FAQ

Commonly asked questions we get about our donation drive. Please consult this page first for any questions of yours that we may have answered before contacting us.

What kind of clothes do you take?

We will take all kinds of clothes from T-shirts, shorts, pants such as jeans, dress pants etc… We accept clothing from men and women, babies and children of all ages. We do not take undergarments like boxer briefs and pantyhose. The reason for this is that undergarments are more likely to be unusable to us. However, bras and socks are acceptable to us (unworn and unused). One exception that we have is that the clothing can’t be too damaged or ripped. Anything sent that is too damaged for use will be recycled.

Will you accept large shipments?

We will accept shipments of various sizes, however, for sake of ease, please don’t send anything that is too heavy to carry.

Will you reimburse for shipping?

We will not reimburse anyone who sends us donations for the shipping cost. Shipping can be expensive and reimbursing everyone who sends us donations will be very expensive. You can email us saying that you have sent a donation and we will confirm whether or not we have received it.

Do you accept anything other than clothes?

At this time, we do not accept anything other than articles of clothing. We have our hands full with clothing donations at this moment and anything else sent to us will be discarded. We encourage you to donate anything else you are looking to give away to other charities.

How long will you be accepting donations?

We will be carrying out this operation for at least a few months. We don’t have a set time frame as of this moment.

Are the donations only going to be for New York?

Any donations sent to us are going to be distributed to the New York City area only. The city of New York has given so much to us, therefore,  the city is our area of focus. As it’s a huge city, there are a large amount of people struggling here who can benefit from the donations.

How will the donations be distributed?

We have many contacts who deal with disfranchised people here in the city. Through our contacts, the clothes we have received through donations will be received by the those in need. When we receive the clothing donations, we first check for quality and then focus on the distribution.

What disqualifies clothes from being used?

Anything such as smells, holes including large and small ones. Markings like those from pens or dye discoloring also disqualifies clothes. Shirts with inappropriate words and imagery will be recycled if sent to us. Political clothing will also not be distributed. We want to give back to our community with quality, therefore we won’t accept substandard articles of clothing.
